As stated before. They don't actually know your mothers maiden name. This is kind of a password verification thing. When you call after the app and they say what is your mothers maiden name. it will be the same as when you applied. I even had one that asked me my fathers middle name. I do know it. But i can tell you for sure they don't.

Agree with everyone else who said it's more of a password verification thing than them matching to any records.
